Information We Collect

• Account information: Email address, display name, and profile photo (when you sign up or use Google/Apple sign-in)
• Waitlist and contact information: Email address when you join our waitlist or contact us
• Family content: Stories, recipes, photos, and traditions you add to your family profile
• Usage data: App interactions, feature usage, and crash reports (to improve the service)

How We Use Your Information

• To provide and maintain the Cultural app
• To authenticate you and manage your account
• To store and display your family's cultural content
• To send calendar reminders and notifications (with your consent)
• To send product updates and marketing emails (for example, tips, festival-related updates, or news about Cultural)
• To show contextual recommendations related to content you are viewing, which may include affiliate or partner links
• To improve the app and fix issues

Communications & Recommendations

We may send you:

• Service emails: Account, security, and other messages needed to run Cultural, including calendar reminders you enable
• Marketing emails: Product news, tips, festival-related updates, and similar messages

By providing your email (including when you create an account or join the waitlist), you may receive marketing emails from us. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in those emails or by contacting us. We may still send service emails after you opt out of marketing.

We may include recommendations or links to third-party products and services that relate to content you are viewing (for example, ingredients or supplies for a festival). Some links may be affiliate links: if you purchase through them, we may earn a commission. These recommendations are chosen by us. We do not use your family content to target ads or recommendations to you.

Data Storage & Security

• Your data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure in the United States
• Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest
• We do not sell your personal information

Third Parties

• Cloud providers: Database, authentication, and file storage
• Google / Apple: Sign-in (OAuth) — we receive only the information you authorize
• Email providers: Services we use to send emails on our behalf
• Affiliate or commerce partners may receive only what is needed to attribute a purchase you choose to make (for example, a click or order reference) — not your family content or a marketing profile
• We do not share your personal information with advertisers or data brokers for their marketing

Your Rights

• Access your data through the app
• Delete your account and associated personal data (Account → Delete Account in the app)
• Export your family content (contact us to request)
• Opt out of marketing emails (unsubscribe link or contact us). Opting out does not stop service emails or reminders you have enabled
• Opt out of non-essential push notifications

When you delete your account, your sign-in and personal profile are removed. Family content shared with other members of a household may remain available to those remaining members.

Children

We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via the app or email. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.

Limitation of Liability

The Cultural app is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the app (or $0 if free).

Governing Law

This policy is governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
